About Inscriptions: The Background

INSCRIPTIONS is run by Subir Ghosh. Subir is a Bengaluru-based independent journalist-writer-researcher who writes about sustainable fashion, political corruption, crony capitalism, conflict, wildlife and cinema. He is the author of three books, and has co-authored three with others.


Subir's first job as a journalist was as a sub-editor with news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) in Kolkata (1991). He joined the Telegraph daily in 1995, and shifted base to New Delhi in mid-1998. Subir's last stint in the mainstream media was with the Bengaluru edition of DNA newspaper.


Subir's latest work is Grand Illusion: The GSPC Disaster and the Gujarat Model. He is lead author of Sue the Messenger: How legal harassment by corporates is shackling reportage and undermining democracy in India, and co-author of Gas Wars: Crony Capitalism and the Ambanis.


Subir has handled publications for the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) and the Federation of Hotels & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), and communications for the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI).


Subir, since January 2015, has been a Contributing Editor with Fibre2Fashion magazine, where he writes mostly about sustainable fashion and policy issues related to the textiles and apparel industry.
