Chahat Rana holds a degree in English and journalism from Ashoka University, where she was named Best Student in Media Studies. She also pursued an advanced research diploma in English as part of which she completed a thesis in Dalit literature. She has published articles on news platforms such as the Indian Express, The Print and The Citizen. At The Citizen she worked as a city reporter and published nine stories in the span of a month. As an editorial intern for the Indian Express, she managed two daily columns of the paper. She also wrote two articles for the editorial page: one about the Indian film industry’s failure in representing issues of caste, and the second on the self-censorship of online streaming platforms in India. Her research and reportage interests vary from politics and policy to analyses of popular culture. She is currently working as a research assistant for Subir Ghosh and aspires to be a long-form journalist.
